Spring Buying Guide

1 Jeffrey Campbell Lita Platform Boot, Free People

2 Falling Leaves Necklace, Forever 21

3 Olive Green Chunky Sweater, Rag & Bone @ Net-A-Porter

4 Leather Shorts, Alice Temperley @ Net-A-Porter

5 Pink Tan Satchel – Dorothy Perkins

6 Light Terracotta Blazer – H&M

Now then, a chunky jumper and a thick-ish blazer may not seem like a good idea to most of you, especially as we’re just heading into spring/summer. But, well, I live in England, where we won’t be seeing much of summer and, as for Spring – it’s usually accompanied by lots of rain. So, the aformentioned chunky jumper and thick-ish blazer is indeed neccessary. On the bright side, look – I’M EMBRACING COLOUR! :O

What are your key buys this Spring?

Sincerely,

FASHION GIRL

Heart Horace?

These new Royan Print T-Shirts by Horace are now available to buy on ASOS. I just love the originality of the ‘Yearbook Pictures’ design, and the ‘ZOMG’ and ‘WTF’ tees are fun, and completely relevant based on how we use internet slang today!

Also, these are some pictures of some jewellery that I bought, and I meant to post them, but I forgot (as usual),  I thought it would be fun to set them out like a jewellery shoot, rather than just wearing them, so here they are…

(Pearl bangles, pink vintage style ring, pearl ‘Honey’ bracelet, pink flower corsage, all Dorothy Perkins. Gold headband, gold bangles, gold bracelet, black ring, black bangles, all Primark.  Blue flower corsage, blue bracelet, blue bangle, all vintage found at Kennilworth Festival. Pop Rocks from supermarket and Elle June 2010 issue subscribed – I got hungry and wanted something to read so…)

“In seed time, learn. In harvest, teach. In winter, enjoy.” – William Blake

Here are a few sets that I made on Polyvore – showing some outfits that are on my wishlist for winter.

I love this outfit for A/W, it’s a sort of edgy, Kate Moss inspired casual look. The vest and skirt are from H&M, and if you paired them with the Docs it would toughen the outfit up a bit. Or, if you’re not a fan of Doc Martens, some heels or even simple flats will do. Also, if you add a black jacket on top (or a bolero for evenings out), you’ll be nice and warm in winter. To accessorize, you could add some edgy, metallic rings, like these from Aldo.

This is another casual outfit for winter, but you can dress it up with some lacy tights or over the knees. The sweater, skirt and shoulder bag are all from Zara. I chose a red bag because the rest of the colours are pretty, but a little bland on their own, so the red adds some pow to the outfit. The sweater is thick enough to keep you warm through winter, and you can add some wooly tights if it’s too cold to get your legs out! The Acne wedges are gorgeous, but very pricy (around £430), so you can shop around to find them a little cheaper (eBay!!!). Alternatively, there are so many lookalikes out there (for example, these peeptoe versions from Topshop, or these gorgeous dark grey suede ones from H&M) that are so much cheaper. The wedges make the outfit more casual, as they’re not as dressy, and easier to walk in than heels. Or, if you’re not a fan of wedges, some classic black courts will do, or even some red ones to match the bag.

This Nicola Roberts inspired cropped aviator faux fur coat and high-waisted skinny jeans (both from Topshop) are perfect for staying warm when out and about this winter. You’ve probably noticed that outerwear has become a huge trend this season, aviator and shearling jackets especially. They suit everyone and can go with everything: over a dress, with shorts, a skirt or your favourite jeans. Luckily, the high street has entirely embraced this look, and you can find these jackets anywhere, no matter what your budget. For example, this Anika Flying Jacket from Whistles for £325, or this Aviator Jacket from New Look, that’s only £35.99. The heels are from Aldo and they’ve got a chunkier heel, which makes walking in winter a little more stable, and the colour block clutch purse brightens up the outfit, making it suitable for day and night. I added the NARS nail polish to match the clutch, but you can add any purse and accessories to make it your own.

I just love the outfit on the left, all from Bitching & Junkfood. I think these leather shorts are my favourite piece for A/W ever! The boots are from New Look, and clash with the outfit somewhat, but the buckle detailing adds a nice touch, along with the colour, which matches the charms on the bracelet. This outfit will work for winter, as the leather is thicker than most shorts, and paired with some thick tights and a leather bomber jacket, you’ll look amazing, and you won’t be cold.
